Twalima Company Limited is a fully registered Tanzanian agricultural enterprise with its roots deep in the Southern Highlands — one of East Africa's most celebrated coffee-growing regions. From our base in the Iyunga area of Mbeya, we farm, source, process, and export premium single-origin Arabica coffee to buyers around the world.
We operate across the full value chain. We grow coffee on our own 100-acre farms. We partner with smallholder farmers through formal contracts and cooperative societies. We provide the inputs that raise the quality of every harvest. And we hold all export licences required by the Tanzania Coffee Board to bring that coffee to international markets.
Our philosophy is straightforward: perfect every step, from the seed in the ground to the cup in the hand. That commitment runs through everything we do.
Location is not a footnote in specialty coffee — it is the story. The Southern Highlands of Tanzania, where Mbeya and Songwe meet, form one of the most distinctive Arabica-growing environments in East Africa.
Mbeya is the largest Arabica-producing region in Tanzania, covering four sub-regions: Mbeya, Mbozi, Rungwe, and Ileje. The area benefits from a subtropical highland climate — warm, humid summers and cool, dry winters — with an average rainfall of around 35 inches per year. Coffee here grows primarily under the shade of banana trees, with the main varietal being Bourbon, known locally as Mbozi, a heritage cultivar prized for its nuanced, complex cup.
Today, 75% of Tanzania's Arabica originates from the south of the country — a shift that reflects both growing quality and increasing international recognition for coffees from this region. Twalima is positioned at the centre of this growth.
Why Choose Twalima Company Limited
We own our farmland, contract our farmers, and hold our own export licences. This vertical integration removes unnecessary intermediaries and gives buyers confidence in consistency, traceability, and supply reliability.
We supply agricultural inputs to our partner farmers — fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides — under formal contract arrangements. This is not charity; it is a commitment to shared quality. Farmers who are better supported produce better coffee, season after season.
Every lot we supply is traceable to a specific growing zone, farmer group, or cooperative. Roasters and importers can present a complete, honest origin story to their customers — because we can provide one.
We hold all export licences issued by the Tanzania Coffee Board. Every transaction is legal, documented, and conducted with full regulatory transparency. Partners can trade with complete confidence.
Witness the love and care that goes behind bringing you the perfect brew.
